CPPS is a disciplined system that individuals and teams use to solve business performance problems.
As all work is a process, CPPS applies process thinking to its disciplined improvement system. Cornerstone provides virtual and in person coaching to champions, sponsors, team leads, team members and individuals. The coaching is based on action learning, meaning that the coaching is provided just in time and after each session the individual team immediately applies the learning to the performance problem they are setting out to solve.
The coaching is hybrid and the amount of in person coaching is a function of the complicatedness of the problem. The system itself is agnostic and the coaching focuses on the disciplined use of the system and no on providing solutions. In fact, a core belief is that those working in the process have the capability to solve any problem that has a root cause lingering in the shadows.

Process thinking has been chunked down into multiple pieces such as lean, constraint theory, quality improvement, six sigma, SMED, 5S, A3, Gemba, Kata, agile, design thinking and queuing theory, among others. What is missing in business generally, especially in service industries is the conscious managing of processes. This is noticeable in many strategies that fail in execution. A strategy uncoupled from the ‘how’ it is to be implemented is simply a wish. All strategy is implemented through processes that exist throughout a business. The capability of the strategy-linked processes to deliver what is needed must be understood and if lacking, the how needs to include increasing the capability of the required process. To increase the capability means finding the root cause of its under performance and knowing how to dissolve the cause. CPPS is designed with that thinking in mind.
The most common problem solving process in use in businesses throughout the world is the “define problem-brainstorm solutions-pick one-implement-go onto next problem. That this fails time and again, sometimes spectacularly, is well researched.
CPPS is a system comprising specific steps in a process, which, when followed will resolve any complicated business problem.
